Covid-19 HBL with M&M S#2 Day 1 - 4

Spring Home frozen Prata should have done their 10 ways of eating prata advert earlier! Chef Morg dishes out his new prata twist. Bake for another 5 mins and it will become a biscuit churro to dunk into chocolate...
We play Doctor Doctor!!! It is quite funny. Do you want to be a doctor Morgi?
No! I have a cough. I have a cold! I am dying! (in hindsight, he is right, medical professionals these days have it the hardest... change change...)

But then kind Megan steps in...
Megan: Are you ok, Morgan?
Morgan: I like to put medicine on my leg (pointing to his knee)
Megan puts gauze and medical tape on Morgan's knee.
Morgan: I want a cold patch! I want clutches!

After some medication (milk for calcium), Morgi leaves the clinic with clutches.

Dr Megan wants an Xray taken during the next check up. She examines his Xrays for possible broken limbs. Wait a minute, Megan says, he broke his knee, why are we reviewing his neck, feet and chest? Well technically, he did not break his knee, he says he wants medicine on his knee and you put a gauze on it... and we do not have a knee Xray.... This whole story does not even make sense!

But... oh oh... is that a wisdom tooth in my Xray?

We proceed to watch Diagnosis on Netflix.

We play out the different seasons and weather... HAHAHAHA.... who am I kidding. I just want to dress my handsome boy in different clothes to go Woooo Ahhhhhh...

Wah... the things one can dig out from the storeroom. Daddy declines to help in the assembly so the kids have to piece this thing together without any reference. Total failure but exhaust one hour of their time. Mission accomplished.

If there is anything we have in abundance, it will be Lego. Didi is relatively new to Lego. So may need a bit of guidance. Time to bring out the Legos...

I was thinking cars and houses but I see the kiddos eating manmade watermelons !!! This is unexpected creativity. When Morgi sees the lighter green inner skin that Megan has, he immediately make changes to his as well. Copycat is doing well.
I bought a lot of these last Xmas for the staff who had to sit through long boring Singapore client meetings... Six left over which makes good computer break time games, now that jigsaw puzzle is completed. Hell No!! Stupidest idea ever. They are irritating, frustrating URGHHHHH the silver BALLS REFUSE TO GET IN PLACE!!!! I am way more stressed than before.

Really. You cannot trust everything you see online. Some sites claim that you can see a rainbow reflected on the inside of the CD. Liar!!!!
Blow painting... Morgi's blowing skills is so so... Leak air one.

We use white board markers to draw swimming tapoles in the sink! It works!
Making jumping frog origami is too difficult for Morgi. Cut up his blow art to make a base of toxic landscape. Jump your frog to land on the eggs or the pond and win. Land on the toxic landscape and you die. Quite fun.

Worksheet to test Morgi's understanding of frogs... He draws a froggie life cycle instead... nice!

I am training Megan to become an expert five stone player. But her hands are small and at best, she can play 3 stones at one go... Morgi's five stones means aim and throw. This boy cannot aim to save his life.
Its 8pm and boy is not sleeping. This is not good. Mummy's Korean Netflix drama cannot start... This demands immediate intervention!! One more activity and off to bed. Take out the torch and we look at what makes Day and Night on Earth.

Covid-19 HBL with M&M Season #2

Back by popular demand. Welcome to Covid-19 HBL with M&M Season #2.

We start the season with a BANG with assorted animals we have in the house. Morgi keeps putting the giraffe in the same enclosure with the bear. Ah maybe... he has been reading the news... knows that zoos lack funding and they are feeding animals with animals to keep the former alive... Boy is on top of things. Impress!
We continue by building the tallest structure possible challenge. Morgan is so excited that he is the first to finish, YEAH... he is a winner! Bravo! Bravo! Wrong competition...
Tallest structure winner : Morgan....'s older sister!!!!
And you know I cannot let go of the chance to discuss building structures and the evolution of sky scrapers... So let's all get architectural and watch a youtube video on how tall can we build on earth and a documentary on the construction of Burj Khalifa...

Enough of modern marvels. There are more elegant architecture back in the old old days. Greek colosseum anyone? Check out that sexy curve!

The best part about building blocks is what goes up must come down. AIM. CRASH!

Learning ABC with Mr. Morg!

Now which animal lay eggs and which animal gives birth to their young alive? Stick the animals that lay eggs to the board! Above are Morgi's answers (ok Iguana is debatable and OMG just discover newts give birth to babies alive!!! Evolution evolution Megi says)

Given the amount of secret stash I hoard, I cannot believe I do not have red chinese knots strings in the house. Well it is what it is, we just have to make do with some rope which is too short to make the double wings. Ugly chinese knotted dragon flies achieved.

And since I make the effort to dig out some string, we must learn some basic types of knot tying. Bowline, square, butterfly, clove hitch knots.... Most important knot to master is the bank robbers knot (above in blue), very essential if Megan needs to rob a bank in future and make a quick escape. No evidence left behind!!!

The orange knots are full of fond memories. It is the chain knots to my diving hook rope... One day, Megan too will have these rope knots beside her belt while she searches for the best spot to latch on and watch the fishes...
Then all hell breaks loose. What is she tying? Anyway, she is very entertained for a whole afternoon tying strange knots.
I know the shops are not open... but the paper slippers lined with felt?

Eat me Go Go.. Not bad. Not bad... Morgi catches on the basic idea of the game... Jump over the opponent piece and eat the piece... munch munch munch... last man standing wins.
Xianger bought me a 3D puzzle dinosaur many years back from ChiangMai. I set the timer and challenge Megan to finish assembling it within one minute. Ha! It takes us both 9 minutes to figure out how to put the poor animal back together again!
Morgi's one year old's birthday present sees the light of day again!!!!

Counting money is the new IN game. Mr Morg is ok with one dollar coins and how two 50C coins make one dollar. He is still a bit confused with ten 10C coins and absolutely clueless with 20C coins. We shall continue the exercise in the following weeks.

Evolution my friend... Social grooming of primates caught on camera.

Worksheets wise, we are totally behind schedule.

Covid-19 HBL with M&M Day 18-24

People say 路邊的野花不要採. Plant waterer snips a hygrendrea and dances around the house saying he picked a lettuce! He returns the flower back to the plant after being told that it is not a lettuce. One fine day, I need to educate him on the return policy.

This is how Morgi keeps himself busy these few days. Snapping photos of everything that interests him then lie in bed reviewing photo by photo...You can be a photographer Morgi (statement retracted after scrolling through the camera SD card last night)
Morgi plays the patterns game from school... Quiet hour for us all... Peace descends...

I adore old fashion toys and I have memories of spinning the tops with mimi. Lucky for us, I have 3 tops for M&M&M competition time!

Painting is such a "depend on his mood and my mood" activity. One good day, we explore using bubble wrap to create patterns in the background. Morgan loves the color red and everything must be drawn with red crayon. He finishes it off with a grumpy Morgan and decides to call it a day...

We experiment heavy and light objects with a cloth hanger... Bottle of air and bottle of water, which is heavier?
Pull out a new box of 504 pieces jigsaw puzzle we bought from Taiwan years back. 15 pieces per person/time we have a computer break. Little by little, eventually it will complete. And eventually is today! Morgi has his own round puzzle to solve...

Boy recently discovers storybots and starts using words like "expected" and "unexpected".  He quietly draws, cuts, tape this "bookmark"(he claims) all by himself. This precious "bookmark" is now most likely under some sofa, forgotten.
Never give up, must try weaving 101 again. This time, raffia string around paper cup so should be easier. Morgan (bottom) still finds it hard... His mother has to finish the job for him.

I introduce Megan to the world of creative packaging with online examples.
Then we try our hands on creating a pyramid packaging because I found an old 1000 packaging structure template book on my shelf. I just know one day that thick book will come in useful. Timing is perfect because school happens to teach geometry and the use of Maths instruments. This is a perfect application exercise!
When you are bored, shooting down LEGO figurines becomes a thing.

I accidentally walk into a pre-natal class conducted by the heavily pregnant Kenneth. Care for the belly, I get it... Good... Breathe in... Breathe out... Now for the Lotus pose.

Mr. Morg takes household chores to the next level. Keep it up Mr. Morg... (I mean keep this up for more than 2 minutes)
Atlas of monsters and ghosts is such a relevant book during this lock down. Megan and me are just watching videos on how Indonesia police hires Covid-19 Pocongs to patrol the streets to scare residents into staying home. Atlas of monsters and ghosts gives a very good introduction of this Asian ghost. Very educational.
Morgi reading list .... is the old Megan's reading list ....

Ever since our PM announces extension of the circuit breaker, I am in no mood to ask Morgan to do worksheets...
