We start the season with a BANG with assorted animals we have in the house. Morgi keeps putting the giraffe in the same enclosure with the bear. Ah maybe... he has been reading the news... knows that zoos lack funding and they are feeding animals with animals to keep the former alive... Boy is on top of things. Impress!
We continue by building the tallest structure possible challenge. Morgan is so excited that he is the first to finish, YEAH... he is a winner! Bravo! Bravo! Wrong competition...
Tallest structure winner : Morgan....'s older sister!!!!And you know I cannot let go of the chance to discuss building structures and the evolution of sky scrapers... So let's all get architectural and watch a youtube video on how tall can we build on earth and a documentary on the construction of Burj Khalifa...
Enough of modern marvels. There are more elegant architecture back in the old old days. Greek colosseum anyone? Check out that sexy curve!
The best part about building blocks is what goes up must come down. AIM. CRASH!
Learning ABC with Mr. Morg!
Now which animal lay eggs and which animal gives birth to their young alive? Stick the animals that lay eggs to the board! Above are Morgi's answers (ok Iguana is debatable and OMG just discover newts give birth to babies alive!!! Evolution evolution Megi says)
Given the amount of secret stash I hoard, I cannot believe I do not have red chinese knots strings in the house. Well it is what it is, we just have to make do with some rope which is too short to make the double wings. Ugly chinese knotted dragon flies achieved.
And since I make the effort to dig out some string, we must learn some basic types of knot tying. Bowline, square, butterfly, clove hitch knots.... Most important knot to master is the bank robbers knot (above in blue), very essential if Megan needs to rob a bank in future and make a quick escape. No evidence left behind!!!
The orange knots are full of fond memories. It is the chain knots to my diving hook rope... One day, Megan too will have these rope knots beside her belt while she searches for the best spot to latch on and watch the fishes...
Then all hell breaks loose. What is she tying? Anyway, she is very entertained for a whole afternoon tying strange knots.
I know the shops are not open... but the paper slippers lined with felt?
Eat me Go Go.. Not bad. Not bad... Morgi catches on the basic idea of the game... Jump over the opponent piece and eat the piece... munch munch munch... last man standing wins.
Xianger bought me a 3D puzzle dinosaur many years back from ChiangMai. I set the timer and challenge Megan to finish assembling it within one minute. Ha! It takes us both 9 minutes to figure out how to put the poor animal back together again!
Morgi's one year old's birthday present sees the light of day again!!!!
Counting money is the new IN game. Mr Morg is ok with one dollar coins and how two 50C coins make one dollar. He is still a bit confused with ten 10C coins and absolutely clueless with 20C coins. We shall continue the exercise in the following weeks.
Evolution my friend... Social grooming of primates caught on camera.
Worksheets wise, we are totally behind schedule.
